Story ideas are everywhere, if you think in that context. I draw ideas from music, books, TV, social media, conversation, etc… When something sparks my interest, I start asking questions: If a plane disappeared, what might have happened to it? What is a black mirror and what would its purpose be? Some boys in class couldn’t open a water bottle, but Suzy twisted the cap right off – how did that go over? …and then I expand from there. Maybe the thought becomes its own story; maybe it ends up as a scene in a story, but once you start asking questions and using your imagination to provide the answers, you find that life is full of ideas.
About the Author
I have loved books my whole life. Even before I could read them myself. The "Hobbies" section of every form I've ever filled out says: Reading. I've always had the utmost admiration for people who can invent a story that transports me out of my surroundings and into the lives of the characters. So as adult, when given a second chance to decide what I wanted to be, I thought, "If I could be absolutely anything I want, I would love to be an author." And I started to write. My hope is that readers will find the same great escape in my stories that I've found in countless novels. Writing is my way of 'giving back'.
