“Fast-paced and plot-focused.” Kirkus Reviews

After her harrowing experience with the mythic underwater monster, Jeni Stonewall intends to discover the nature of her newfound spiritual ability. But debilitating nightmares derail her search, leaving Jeni desperate to go back to normal life. Then her boyfriend, Ice, doesn’t show up to join her on vacation and she discovers that he’s not only been abducted, but cursed–a curse that makes him a threat to Jeni’s life. The quest for answers leads to an evil entity from Irish and Celtic legend that has been exacting vengeance for centuries. To best this formidable foe, Jeni will have to accept her “new normal” and embrace ancient druid magic if she hopes to break the curse before it takes her life.

Sneaking out at night, driving without a license, and falling for a guy weren’t things fifteen-year-old Jeni expected to do while visiting Lake Itasca, Minnesota with her family. The guy, Ice, turns out to be the local medicine man’s apprentice, and when he tells Jeni she’s connected to the spirit world, her first instinct is to run. But after Ice’s stories of a mythical underwater monster—that Jeni allegedly released—prove true, she realizes it’s up to her to contain the beast. The hunt is on to find the charm and the person using it before the town is overrun by cannibalistic monsters. Although the pieces of the puzzle come together to form an impossible conclusion, one which will challenge traditional belief and question numerous ritualistic items, Ice knows he must still reveal the truth. Legacy in Legend Series

In Thunderstone, Jeni and her family gather at Lake Itasca, Minnesota, to spread her grandfather’s ashes in the Mississippi Headwaters. While they are there, they agree to meet again at various locations along the Mississippi River to remember him as they trace his journey to the Gulf of Mexico. These gatherings set the foundation for the Legacy in Legend series. Every time the family assembles, Jeni comes in contact with a malicious otherworldly element. These frightening and perilous encounters are no help in Jeni’s search for her spiritual heritage, as the supernatural entities come from a variety of mythologies and lore. Yet each vengeful confrontation makes it more important that she discover and harness whatever power she possesses so she can protect herself and her loved ones and, ultimately, end the deadly attacks.

I hope you’ll join Jeni and Ice’s adventures as they experience local legends firsthand and collect clues to Jeni’s spiritual legacy.

Sixteen-year-old Jack Ironwood knew exactly what he wanted. Until he got it.

Jack was content to stay unnoticed by pretty and popular track-star, Natalie Segetich, until he overhears her claim that something took her friend Emma. As a soulshifter who can cross into the underworld, Jack knows the human-stealing Enuuki—hell’s messengers—are real and that a successful rescue mission would secure a future otherwise out of his reach. Working together, Jack and Natalie devise a plan to outwit the ruler of the underworld. Then on the eve of the quest, as Jack stands on the verge of seeing his dreams come true, he realizes he’s no longer sure what he wants. But it’s too late to back out. Pursued by the dark lord’s henchmen and ghastly mutant creatures, Jack and Natalie struggle to come out ahead in a battle and barter for souls. In the end, Jack will have to decide his own fate, because nothing short of a deal with the devil will get all three of them out of hell alive.

Dear Barb. I read Thunderstone on a roadtrip to West Virginia at Thanksgiving – and I loved it! I only wished that I had Heart of Ice so I would have the whole story. Looking forward to reading the first and all your following books. Totally enjoyable. It was great to see you and everyone from our old work days. Hope we can do another dinner in the near future. Tell me how to get Heart of Ice, please, as I can barely wait to find out how all this started out……

Received a free review copy of Soulshifter and thoroughly enjoyed the story. Good reading for teens. Love the suspense and mystery. It’s one of those books that once you start reading it, you don’t want to put down but know if you keep reading you’ll reach the end when what you really want is more story. Looking forward to more of your books.
